By Mrs. Natasha Brady, Head of School
Every school thinks they’re unique.
Every school says, “We’re like a family.”
Every school claims to have something special.
But at BHCA… something actually is different.
People walk onto our campus and say the same exact thing:
“It just feels different here.”
There’s a reason for that.
Actually, there are several — and they’re all deeply intentional.
So here it is:
A peek behind the curtain at what makes Big House Christian Academy truly, undeniably, beautifully different.
Some schools get “small” because their enrollment dropped.
We get “small” because we believe it works.
Small means:
no student gets lost
staff know your kid’s name (for real, have you seen the YouTube video), personality, strengths, and quirks
kids get individualized attention
teachers can actually TEACH instead of crowd-manage
we can pivot, adjust, fix, and improve fast
every kid belongs
Small isn’t a weakness.
Small is our superpower.
You will not see our students sitting at home doing hours of pointless worksheets.
We don’t believe in:
filling time
overloading kids
giving homework just to look rigorous
We believe in:
deep learning
real understanding
mastery
critical thinking
the ability to apply concepts
And guess what?
Our kids crush dual enrollment.
Without the nightly endless packets.
Amazing, right?
You know how some schools just hire “whoever”?
No.
Just… no.
BHCA teachers are here because:
they love Jesus
they love kids
they have a calling
they have passion
they care deeply
they go above and beyond
they see students as souls, not just bodies in chairs
We are blessed with a staff that prays, laughs, sacrifices, leads, studies, and pours themselves out every day.
We’re not perfect — but we’re all-in.
BHCA kids learn:
how to talk to adults
how to advocate for themselves
how to handle freedom
how to work independently
how to study
how to ask for help
how to problem-solve
how to serve
We don’t bubble-wrap them.
We prepare them.
There’s a LOT of laughter on this campus.
Messy laughter.
Middle-school-weird laughter.
Teacher-sarcasm laughter.
Mrs.-Brady’s-“I-see-everything-so-don’t-even-try-it”-laughter.
We take God seriously.
We take academics seriously.
But we do NOT take ourselves too seriously.
BHCA has joy.
And people feel it.
We believe parents are the primary disciple-makers.
So we:
communicate clearly
share lesson plans
provide study guides
give access to resources
keep you informed
work as a team
This is not the school where parents get shut out.
This is the school where parents are part of the mission.
Some schools are experts at looking polished on the outside while chaos reigns behind the scenes.
Not us.
We care about the actual heart of your child — not just making everything look good.
If your child:
is struggling
is behind
is anxious
is overwhelmed
is misbehaving
is growing spiritually
…we see it, we talk about it, and we walk with them.
Character > perfection.
BHCA is not a bubble.
We serve:
A Table for All
local churches
the community
people in need
families who are struggling
We don’t just talk about Jesus.
We live like Him.
We pray over:
classrooms
decisions
students
families
staff
events
challenges
victories
We’re serious about God’s presence here.
He is the center, not the accessory.
I don’t run BHCA because it’s easy.
Or because I had spare time.
Or because the building cleans itself (it doesn't, Mrs. A does that).
Or because middle school attitudes are relaxing to be around. 😂
I run this school because God called me to it.
And the staff are here for the same reason.
This is ministry.
This is discipleship.
This is mission.
And that’s why people feel the difference the moment they walk through our doors...except we don't have doors to walk through...but you get the saying!
We didn’t copy another school.
We didn’t follow a blueprint.
We didn’t try to fit a mold.
We prayed.
We followed God.
We built what He told us to build.
And the result is something beautiful:
A school full of joy, learning, discipleship, laughter, community, grace, and growth.
A school where kids feel safe, known, loved, and challenged.
A school where Jesus is at the center.
A school that feels like home.
