At Big House Christian Academy, we believe leadership is not a position — it is character in action.
Our goal is to raise students who lead with humility, courage, integrity, and a heart for Christ.
BHCA offers intentional opportunities for students to grow as leaders in age-appropriate, meaningful ways.
Whether through chapel, Life Groups, service, or daily responsibilities, students learn to influence others for God’s glory
As part of our commitment to developing confident, Christ-centered leaders, Big House Christian Academy participates in TeenPact Leadership Schools, a nationally respected Christian leadership program that teaches students about government, leadership, and biblical citizenship through hands-on learning experiences. Students learn how government works by participating in mock elections and legislative sessions, while also developing confidence in public speaking, respectful debate, critical thinking, and defending ideas from a biblical worldview. Throughout the experience, students have opportunities to meet elected officials and leaders while growing in personal discipline, spiritual maturity, and leadership skills. TeenPact uniquely combines discipleship, civic education, leadership training, and experiential learning, making it one of the most transformative leadership opportunities BHCA students participate in each year.
BHCA students lead through service by organizing donations, volunteering at school events, helping younger students, assisting during field trips and outreach opportunities, and setting an example through their attitude and behavior. At BHCA, students are taught that true leadership begins with servanthood, reflecting Christ’s example of humility, compassion, and putting others before themselves.
At BHCA, our trained Life Group Leaders shepherd small groups of students after chapel each week, serving in one of the most important discipleship roles within our school community. These student leaders learn how to facilitate meaningful discussions, apply Scripture to real-life situations, pray with and for others, support younger students, and create a welcoming and respectful atmosphere where students feel seen and encouraged. Through their leadership and example, Life Group Leaders help set the spiritual tone for the school while growing in Christlike character, maturity, and servant leadership.
At BHCA, athletics provide a natural environment for students to grow as leaders both on and off the field. Through sports, student-athletes learn valuable character traits such as teamwork, perseverance, self-discipline, conflict resolution, positive communication, and good sportsmanship, while also learning what it means to represent Christ in their actions and attitudes. Team captains and student leaders are further challenged to encourage their teammates, lead by example, and help create a positive and unified team culture. In addition, upperclassmen have opportunities to coach elementary sports teams under the supervision of a staff member, allowing them to mentor younger students while developing responsibility, leadership, and servant-heartedness.
BHCA students are given opportunities to help lead various aspects of chapel, including prayer, Scripture reading, serving on the worship team, welcoming and hosting, and assisting with setup and support. These leadership opportunities encourage students to use their God-given gifts to serve the Lord publicly with confidence, while also helping them grow spiritually, develop communication and leadership skills, and model Christlike worship and service for their peers.
Senior Service is a unique leadership and discipleship opportunity at Big House Christian Academy designed to help seniors discover and use their God-given gifts in meaningful ways. Staff members prayerfully evaluate each senior’s spiritual strengths, talents, personality, and abilities, then assign them a service role that helps support the daily operations of the school. These responsibilities provide students with valuable real-world job experience while also encouraging them to become deeply invested in serving and strengthening their school community. Senior Service positions may include roles such as events coordinator, elementary sports coach, secretary, social media manager, elementary music teacher, teacher assistant, student relations, and more. Through this program, students develop responsibility, leadership, communication, professionalism, and servant-heartedness while also earning elective credit and gaining practical experience that prepares them for life beyond high school.
