In today’s world, many schools incorporate chapel services, Bible classes, or a generally religious atmosphere and call it “Christian education.” But we must pause and ask an important question:
Is adding Christian elements the same as building something truly Christian?
The answer is no.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
— Psalm 127:1
At its core, true Christian education is not something that can simply be layered on top of an existing system. It must be intentionally and deliberately built upon a distinctively Christian foundation—one that shapes not only what is taught, but how and why it is taught.
“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:11
A genuinely Christian school does not just include Biblical content; it is guided by a Biblical worldview in every area—curriculum, instruction, discipline, relationships, and purpose. This requires ongoing reflection and evaluation to ensure that every part of the educational experience is in alignment with God’s truth.
“See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy… according to human tradition… and not according to Christ.”
— Colossians 2:8
It is not enough to say we are building on the Word of God.
We must actually build on it.
